Other Ways to Give
YOUR SUPPORT IS HELPING OTHERS

The Harvest House Addiction Recovery Center opened its doors on February 1, 2006 in Moncton after a house fire caused extensive damage to our men's residence. Turning tragedy into triumph we rebuilt with a new vision to help those with addictions break free of a destructive lifestyle. Our program provides recovering addicts with a supportive network of mature believers with whom they can grow in faith and friendship through their struggles and victories. Mornings are centered on Bible study and Biblically-based recovery programs which give participants great opportunities to meet the Lord, themselves and each other in an atmosphere of sincerity and fellowship.

Participants are encouraged to be transparent with each other and share in the struggles and difficulties they are facing. There is support not only from program leaders but also from other participants on the road to recovery. In this way a caring community is fostered under the guidance of mature overseers.

Phase One is 90 days in length and the individual will participate in a pre screening with one of our Recovery Coordinators, prior to being accepted into the program. Phase one covers a variety of topics and everyone in the program is expected to attend group sessions. Some of the topics covered in Phase one includes:

  • Serenity: A companion for twelve step recovery: an extremely useful teaching tool combining the recognized 12 steps and the New Testament.
  • Celebrate Recovery - John Baker - Saddleback Church: an in depth, highly detailed recovery program developed in conjunction with Pastor Rick Warren that parallels familiar 12 step programs with 8 principles from the "Sermon on the Mount".
  • Better Together / Forty Days of Community: the entire premise of this teaching is that we cannot recover, heal or even learn by ourselves, this is especially true of someone with an addictive personality.
  • Living Free / Turning Point: video based training to develop Christ-centered small groups that help people prevent or overcome life-controlling problems.
  • The Final Freedom / Pioneering Sexual Addiction: sexual addiction is most likely the hardest addiction for anyone to overcome much less even talk about. The final freedom is described as a place beyond the guilt and shame of the history of sexual addiction found only after much hard work and humility.

Upon completion of phase one individuals will begin phase two. Phase two is three to nine months in length depending upon the needs of the individual. Various programs are in place whereby men can approach and experience freedom and victory from addictions. Mornings are centered on group devotional periods in which the men take turns sharing the Scriptures that have impacted them with the rest of the group. Discussions and prayers occur spontaneously in such morning meetings, a great Word-centered way to start off each day! From morning devotions, the group then attends a ½ hour to hour-long discipleship class, led by mature Christians who are sensitive to the needs and challenges of the group, focused on practical application of New Testament Scriptures and hope to their lives. Two additional book-centered programs are based on the Celebrate Recovery series by Rick Warren and John Baker and the well-known book, Victory Over the Darkness by Neil T. Anderson. After the first successful month in the Recovery Program, during which time the men do not leave the premises without an accountability partner, participants who can do so are encouraged to make good use of their free time by seeking gainful employment.

Phase three is centered on successful reintegration of individuals into society. Individuals in this phase of recovery are advised to continue participating in programs, and are encouraged to maintain their connections with accountability partners within the believing community.

We believe that with God's help and the support of a caring, committed community many will be set free of their addictions. If you or someone you know needs help breaking free from an addiction please contact us.
